Danny DeVito Inebriated on The View
November 30th, 2006

Danny DeVito admits to a few “limoncellos” with his pal George Clooney the night before his appearance on The View.

A drunk, incoherent DeVito made an impressive string of jokes about President Bush, even calling the Commander in Chief “numb nuts” at one point. DeVito also discussed his own visit to the White House during the Clinton administration including his escapades in the Lincoln Bedroom.

DeVito was supposedly promoting his new movie, “Deck the Halls”. Barbara does her best to change subject and restore order but the damage was already done.

Nicole Kidman Makes Lots of Money
November 30th, 2006

Nicole Kidman Highest EanerNicole Kidman is reportedly the highest paid actress according to the Hollywood Reportor’s 2006 list, despite being the recipient of only one Oscar during her career. 39 year old Kidman’s stated earnings are betwen $16 and $17 million per movie, and she had placed second in the list last year.

Julia Roberts had been the reigning leader in earnings for the last 5 consecutive years, but since taking some time off to establish a family her earnings have dwindled allowing for a new leader and resulting in Roberts not showing up on the list at all this year.

Coming in second this year for earnings is Reese Witherspoon, followed by Renee Zellweger, Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz, in that order.

Although this is an impressive accomplishment, it must still hurt a little bit next to ex Tom Cruise who earns around $25 million per film.

Top 10 earning acctresses in Hollywood:

1. Nicole Kidman $16 million-$17 million
2. Reese Witherspoon $15 million
3. Renee Zellweger $15 million

Daniel Baldwin Arrested
November 9th, 2006

Daniel Baldwin ArrestedHow many Baldwin brothers are there? I thought William was the trouble-maker, or is he just the funny looking one?

Either way, the Daniel version of the Baldwin was arrested recently in Santa Monica, CA on suspicion of grand theft auto for “borrowing” a white GMC Yukon that he did not have permission to use from an acquaintance, according to the Associated Press. Bail was set at $20,000. I wonder if he made enough in the “Car 54, Where Are You?” movie to cover that?

Daniel Baldwin had gained some more infamy in July of this year when he drove a rental car into two parked cars at 80 mph in LA, and in April when he was investigated for cocaine possession.

Borat Hits US Box Office
November 5th, 2006

Borat MovieA new film titled Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan has recently accounted for 73% of all advanced ticket sales on Fandango.com.

The comedy film stars Sacha Baron Cohen, who is a British comedian playing a boorish, anti-Semitic alter ego that used to frequent his cable television show called Da Ali G Show. Borat is a faux documentary of the character on a road trip across the US encountering various US citizens in a comical manner. Both the Borat character and Ali G were successful hits on Da Ali G show and it looks like the move is being received well, too.

The movie opened on Friday, cost $18 million to make and could gross as much as $15 million it’s first weekend according to industry experts, which is impressive for a film that opened in less than 1,000 theaters.

Santa Clause 3 – The Escape Clause
November 3rd, 2006

Santa Claus 3 Tim AllenSanta Clause 3: The Escape Clause has been released a little on the early side before the Christmas holiday and has been getting not so good reviews.

“This premature gulp of holiday jeer has big-screen production values but nary a laugh.” was written by Metromix in a recent review, while the Catholic Online of all places had this to say about the movie: “Only don’t expect your belly to shake with laughter like a bowl full of jelly. More likely you’ll be looking for an escape clause – or route – of your own.”

Unfortunately I cannot even report that I have seen mixed reviews for Santa Clause 3 which is unfortunate since the first two Santa Clause movies rated pretty well. This is also unfortunate for Tim Allen who has been a workhorse for Disney films in recent years and up until now has been a pretty good run.
