The California Highway Patrol says it has arrested Nicole Richie for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol near Burbank, California.

The incident occurred early Monday after authorities received several 911 calls about a black Mercedes SUV driving the wrong way on the freeway. The Highway Patrol found Ms Richie stopped in the car pool lane when they arrived. After she failed a field sobriety test, she was placed in custody.

Ms Richie was booked in Glendale then was tested for drugs and alcohol before being released Monday morning. The results of the drug test have not been released yet.

I doubt Ms Richie could pass the field sobriety test sober, let alone intoxicated. I’m not saying that to be mean. If you’ve seen the “Simple Life,” you might also wonder how either Nicole Richie or Paris Hilton has a driver’s license. I know I’d feel safer if neither Nicole nor Paris was driving. Can’t these girls afford a chauffeur?

I’m also wondering how many drinks it takes Nicole to be intoxicated. She’s so thin she might get drunk gargling with mouth wash. So take some advice Nicole, gain some weight and get a driver.
