Wesley Snipes Surrenders to Authorities
December 8th, 2006
In a bizarre life imitates art scenario, Wesley Snipes has reprised his role as a fugitive on the run from his 1998 movie “US Marshalls.” Mr. Snipes was indicted in October for claiming fraudulent refunds in the amount of $12 million. The refunds were against taxes already paid. He is also accused of failing to file returns from 1999 to 2004.
Mr. Snipes arrived in Orlando on a private jet on December 8th for a court date in Ocala. According to an unnamed official Snipes voluntarily surrendered without indecent.
The indictment states that that Mr. Snipes had his taxes prepared by an accounting firm, American Rights Litigators, which has a notorious history of filing fraudulent returns. The firm would apparently receive 20 percent of the refunds for its efforts.
Mr. Snipes claims he is a scapegoat, he was taken advantage of and that he has been unfairly targeted by prosecutors. He faces a penalty of 16 years if convicted.

Can these Hollywood guys ever get enough? He allegedly claimed more in refunds then most people MAKE in their lifetimes. This has to be Karma sending a message to Wesley, “Hey Wesley, you’re rich and famous, be happy with what you have!” Oh well, this may give him some inspiration in case they every make a sequel to “US Marshalls.”
If there is one bright spot in all this, it may be that hopefully we will be spared a “Blade IV.”
