Things are looking grim for the rapper known as T.I. after his weekend arrest. T.I., born as Clifford Joesph Harris Jr., was arrested last Saturday for trying to buy three machine guns and two silencers from an unidentified man who was working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives. The arrest came after federal officials were first alerted to one of T.I.’s bodyguards trying to purchase the firearms without the proper documentation from an Atlanta gun owner. The Feds quickly moved in and learned that the bodyguard was acting for T.I., who as a convicted felon, shouldn’t be even thinking of owning illegal weapons. A federal judge ruled today that he will remain in custody until a bail hearing can be set up which with the rapper’s checkered background could prove to be quite high.

The arrest came hours before the 27-year-old singer/songwriter was scheduled to show up at the BET Hip Hop Awards that night. Strangely just as T.I. was being booked and processed he wound up winning two awards at the show. The rapper had also been linked as a possible candidate to play the Green Lantern in a “Justice League” movie. The PopTherapists think that there’s a better chance of T.I. starring in “Prison Break” now than as a squeaky clean superhero.
