007 Keeps the Car
December 12th, 2007

Casino Royale 007 carLuxury automobile manufacturer Aston Martin has announced that British superapy James Bond will once again be behind the wheel of one of their rides in the next 007 movie. Bond drove a DBS model Aston Martin in “Casino Royale” and it was featured in an amazing stunt where the car was flipped seven times in succession. That stunt set a new Guinness World Record for “The Most Cannon Rolls For a Car”. Daniel Craig will be back for the second time to play the MI6 spy in the untitled Bond film that starts filming next year for a November 2008 release.

“Aston Martin is proud of our long association with James Bond. The DBS has its own unique character which equals that of James Bond,” said the company’s chief executive Dr. Ulrich Bez “It is explosive power in a black tie. It is the perfect car for James Bond as it delivers the complete driving experience and bridges the gap between our road and track cars – the DB9 and DBR9. It is equally at home on a twisting mountain circuit as on the open road and we are all very excited at the prospect of seeing it on the big screen again.”

The next James Bond movie is a sequel to “Casino Royale” and will have 007 going after the terrorist organization introduced in Craig’s first outing. “Monster’s Ball”’s Marc Forster will direct from a screenplay by “Crash” Oscar-winner Paul Haggis.

We here at Pop Therapy do admire the lines of the DBS even if we don’t have the extra $100,000 lying around to pick it up. Does James have insurance coverage for things like damage by hitmen?

Batmobile Sells For $297,000
December 11th, 2007

Batmobile

The Batmobile featured in Batman Forever has sold for an incredible $297,000. It may have been one of the worst of the Batman movies, but this is one of the coolest of the many versions of the caped crusader’s ride. Many actually hate this version of the Batmobile as much as the movie it was featured in, but I say any Batmobile is cool.

The car sold for only about half of what it was estimated to sell for at auction. This, thanks in large part to the many conditions set by Warner Bros. and DC Comics, including one barring the owner from driving the car in view of the public!

Now why would I want a Batmobile if I can’t drive it in public…In tights…with my young ward Robin…also in tights? What’s wrong with that?
