Jennifer Connelly Cast In The Day The Earth Stood Still

She will star opposite Keanu Reeves in the remake of the 1951 classic Sci-Fi drama. Connelly will portray Helen Benson, the role Patricia Neal played in the 1951 original. They are also in negotiations with Kathy Bates for a role.
Production is scheduled to begin sometime in December in Vancouver. Jennifer Connelly is currently shooting the comedy He’s Just Not That Into You for New Line.
The sci-fi remake begins as aliens land on Earth with a message for all humans…live in peace or be destroyed. Some would argue that the message of the film is even more relevant today then it was in 1951. Connelly and Reeves should make a good team. I can’t wait to see how they update the effects and of course how they update the robot Gort, who was the real scene stealer in the original.
