Raku Ceramic Ray Guns Are Awesome

Raku Ceramic Ray Guns Are Awesome
Who would have thought that ceramic ray guns could be so cool. Me from an alternate universe, that’s who. I just met myself from a parallel reality. In that reality, it turns out that ceramic is the hot technology.

They don’t have any weapons that actually work, but people make ceramic ray guns then fire them in the oven. After that they paint on details and later meet in combat. It goes something like this.

Two opponents meet and unholster their ray guns. Each takes a look at the other’s work. “Damn that’s pretty good. You got some kick-ass detail on your piece. Dude, you totally kicked my ass. You win. I knew I should have spent more time on design.” Then they part ways.

Turns out I’m hot-shit over there in that universe. Sad thing is that universe is lame and non-violent. I gave my double a real gun and a camera, then showed him how to introduce his universe to head-shots.

See, now I’ll be the top dude over there AND I’ll have a new reality show. Get it?

Blu-ray Firefly Set In The Works
April 9th, 2008

Firefly
Jewel Staite, AKA Kaylee on SF series Firefly, told conventioneers in Australia that a Blu-ray special edition of the show is coming soon, according to TV Guide online.

“I just heard that they’re re-releasing Firefly, a special edition of Firefly, in a box set. They actually asked me if I was able to come down to L.A. and do a commentary in the spring. So I think that would be fun.”

No date yet, but this is awesome news. The short lived series is one of the best Sci-Fi shows to come along in many years.

More X-Files Sequel News & Teaser
March 27th, 2008

X-Files Sequel
X-Files creator Chris Carter, writer Frank Spotnitz and others gathered on Wednesday to talk about the TV series and share some information about the upcoming film.

“While this is not a mythology movie, it’s true to everything that’s come before,” Spotnitz said at the William S. Paley Television Festival. “It’s true to Mulder and Scully, who they are and where they would be this point in their lives and all of the experiences that they’ve had.”

They really didn’t say very much more, but I’m expecting some Muldar and Scully humping, while aliens tape it and put it online. New teaser trailer HERE.

Artist Makes Bead Curtains Into Star Trek Art
March 26th, 2008

Star Trek Art
Bead curtains are not just for 1960’s hippie dens anymore. These are made by artist Devorah Sperber. Kind of like pixel-art in 3D, she slides tens of thousands of beads onto threads to create these detailed geek portraits. This is some retro cool geek awesomeness right here.

Some of her works include the holodeck door, Enterprise-D’s bridge, and her “beaming down” series, which looks like the “real” special effect.

Keanu Reeves Talks “The Day The Earth Stood Still”
March 25th, 2008

Keanu Reeves Talks “Earth Stood Still”
MTV News talked with Keanu Reeves recently about 20th Century Fox’s highly secret remake of the sci-fi classic “The Day the Earth Stood Still.” The original 1951 film dealt with the then very real emerging danger of the Cold War and nuclear arms. The new version on the other hand, will be dealing with the contemporary threat of global warming.

Reeves said “The version I was just working on, instead of being man against man, it’s more about man against nature. My Klaatu says that if the Earth dies, you die. If you die, the earth survives. I’m a friend to the earth. …what we are doing and who we are as a species. We’re trying to reach beyond the idea of [just] environmentalism.”

Keanu confirmed that they “have another version of the robot”, Gort.
