Comedian Lives in IKEA Store
January 10th, 2008

Comedian Lives in IKEA StoreNew York comedian Mark Malkoff finds some temporary lodging at a Paramus, New Jersey Ikea store after his New York City apartment had to be fumigated and he needed some inexpensive short-term digs.

The comedian and filmmaker thought it would be fun to move into an IKEA store where he’d live and sleep for a week and tape his escapades - and surprisingly IKEA went for it.

Mark, who currently works as the audience coordinator on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report”, is allowed to stay until Ikea closes at midnight on Saturday.

Dane Cook Completes 7 Hour Marathon Set
January 6th, 2008

Dane Cook Completes 7 Hour Marathon SetIn a marathon set for the ages, Dane Cook told jokes at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles for 7 hours on Wednesday, January 2nd. The “endurance” performance broke the previous record held by Dave Chappelle who had a monster set lasting 6 hours and 12 minutes just last month.

A rivalry of sorts has sprung up between comedians Cook and Chappelle. Last April, Cook broke the previous record of 2 hours and 41 minutes set by Richard Pryor in 1980 with a set lasting 3 hours and 50 minutes.

Cook went on stage at the Sunset Strip comedy club on Tuesday and continued until nearly 7 a.m. Wednesday. At one point Cook sent out for food to keep the audience in good spirits.

Cook has a note on his blog from the performance, Cook said: “Quick true or false blurb: Did I really do a record-breaking seven hours of stand-up comedy last night at the Laugh Factory? True.

I think Dane is a pretty funny guy, but I’m not really sure who should be commended for this accomplishment more – Cook or the poor saps in the audience who sat through this.
