Doctor Who is still going strong. The BBC is planning to make a Doctor Who movie to be released in theaters. No one knows who the doctor will be, David Tennant or new Doctor Matt Smith.

There’s also going to be another Doctor Who animated series, called Dreamland. Looks like it will be seven 6-minute episodes on Children’s BBC, with the voice of Tennant.

And then there’s a new companion. Very young Karen Gillan, seen above.

Yeah, but what about an all Muppet version of Doctor Who? C’mon BBC, do you have No vision?

Rick Kelvington makes a great video. A mash-up of classic Trek and modern Doctor who. It’s called “Trek Through Time.” Okay nerds, time to weigh in on who would win when the Enterprise encounters the TARDIS.

Obviously Kirk would bang the Doctor’s current companion, that’s a given. But who would win?

The first two minutes of the Doctor Who 2008 Christmas Special as part of the BBC’S Children In Need charity night. Damnit this makes my geek blood boil. In a good way. What is that Cyberman thing? Some sort of cyber-bull?

Looks like it’s official now. David Tennant will no longer be the Doctor. From SciFi Wire:

David Tennant announced that he will quit as the title character in the BBC’s Doctor Who, after becoming one of the most popular Time Lords in the history of the BBC science fiction show, the BBC reported.

Tennant stepped into the Tardis in 2005 and will leave the role after four special episodes are broadcast next year.

Tennant, the 10th actor to play the Doctor, left fans guessing about his return at the end of the latest season. In the last episode, which aired in the United Kingdom in July, the Doctor had to defeat his enemies, the Daleks, to save the universe. Almost 10 million people watched as the Time Lord apparently started the process of regeneration–but did not complete it.

This news makes geeks sad as he was among the best Doctors ever.

The Doctor has one, so naturally, the Master his arch rival Timelord enemy has one too. It’s cooler then the Doctor’s, but not as versatile. It will set you back $18.99 and keep you from touching a woman.

You will no longer have to talk through a fan to sound like a Dalek. Now you can wear your own Dalek voice changing helmet and send a shiver down your own spine as you annoy the hell out of everyone saying, “EXTERMINATE”. You aren’t going to pass for a Dalek however, since your lower half will be exposed. It might be good to scare someone by hiding behind a large object. It’ll cost you just £40.

This is a bizarre Doctor Who Easter item. I’m guessing the idea is to serve up an Easter egg in this thing. Is this really how Time-Lords eat???

Die-hard fans and collector’s will surely want one, though I don’t know why. For about $6 you’ll get a chocolate egg, a spoon, and the square egg cup with Cybermen and Daleks on the outside.

You know, the Tardis is probably full of useless junk like this.

Could “Absolutely Fabulous” star Jennifer Saunders really be in talks to play the first female incarnation of The Doctor for a one-time special episode? According to The Sun, it’s true.

Earlier this month current Doctor David Tennant’s co-star Catherine Tate let slip during a radio interview that it could be his last series as the Doctor. Tennant later denied the claim, saying he hasn’t made up his mind yet about continuing, but he is committed to still shooting the fourth season and at least four TV specials after that.

I have no doubt that Saunders could be an amazing incarnation of the Doctor, and it’s probably about time we had a woman in the role full time. It might open up some interesting story possibilities. We’ll just have to wait and see on this one.
