Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman, 71, has been seriously injured in a car accident in Ruleville, Mississippi. The star was in a one car accident around 11:30 p.m. last night north of the small Southern town near his home. His vehicle flipped several times. He and a female passenger were rescued after using the Jaws Of Life.

The actor was airlifted from the scene of the accident to a hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the wreck.
