The classic Sci-Fi miniseries from the 80’s is returning courtesy of ABC. From Variety:

“Whenever I mention ‘V’ to anybody, they still have a lot of good memories about the original movie and series,” Peters said. “Everybody has that imagery of their uniforms, or the visitor eating a hamster. It’s a science fiction icon and too good to pass up.”

The original “V” served as an allegory for the Holocaust and Nazi Germany. Peters said he won’t duplicate that concept, except that the new “V” will still focus on what happens when the masses have blind faith in their leaders.

In this case, the new “V” will center on Erica Evans, a Homeland Security agent with an aimless son who’s got problems. When the aliens arrive, her son gloms on to them — causing tension within the family. As in the original “V,” several storylines will unfold simultaneously.

September 8th 1966. Nerds everywhere were in awe. If any of them had ever had sex previously, it would not happen again. This movie actually doesn’t look half bad despite being a remake of a classic. If you don’t blink you might even catch a glimpse of Gort the robot. Check out the trailer here.

Jessica Alba is reportedly being considered to fill the thigh-high boots of Jane Fonda in the new remake of “Barbarella.” The news just got me instantly hard and my laptop did a double flip in the air. Luckily I caught it, deciding at the last minute to spare my computer rather then pleasure myself thinking about Jessica Alba as Barbarella. Wait. That’s the old sci-fi flick right? Not the elephant cartoon? Yeah that was Babar….

From the Licensing International Expo in New York, comes this first look at a poster for MGM’s remake of RoboCop.

I’m not so sure about this guys. Robocop was cool and all, but as cyborgs go, he was always a bit on the lame side. I would have expected that they would have updated the look a bit more. All they did was add a Battlestar Galactica Cylon look. Here’s to hoping we get something superior to the original movies, but with the same kind of weird humor.

Who would have thought that ceramic ray guns could be so cool. Me from an alternate universe, that’s who. I just met myself from a parallel reality. In that reality, it turns out that ceramic is the hot technology.

They don’t have any weapons that actually work, but people make ceramic ray guns then fire them in the oven. After that they paint on details and later meet in combat. It goes something like this.

Two opponents meet and unholster their ray guns. Each takes a look at the other’s work. “Damn that’s pretty good. You got some kick-ass detail on your piece. Dude, you totally kicked my ass. You win. I knew I should have spent more time on design.” Then they part ways.

Turns out I’m hot-shit over there in that universe. Sad thing is that universe is lame and non-violent. I gave my double a real gun and a camera, then showed him how to introduce his universe to head-shots.

See, now I’ll be the top dude over there AND I’ll have a new reality show. Get it?

Esai Morales from “Jericho’s” second season, has been cast as Joseph Adama, Bill’s lawyer dad, in the Battlestar Galactica prequel pilot “Caprica.”

Seems that Joseph Adama used his Tauron underworld connections to help a wealthy genius scientist create the first Cylon.

Jewel Staite, AKA Kaylee on SF series Firefly, told conventioneers in Australia that a Blu-ray special edition of the show is coming soon, according to TV Guide online.

“I just heard that they’re re-releasing Firefly, a special edition of Firefly, in a box set. They actually asked me if I was able to come down to L.A. and do a commentary in the spring. So I think that would be fun.”

No date yet, but this is awesome news. The short lived series is one of the best Sci-Fi shows to come along in many years.
