Shrek to Hit Up Broadway…Parents Flee
January 18th, 2008

shrek-musical.jpgShrek is coming to Broadway…that’s right kiddies. That big green lovable troll who sucks cash out of your wallet at the movies now and again is ready to do so on the stages of New York City. Get ready for Shrek the Musical.

Shrek’s Broadway debut will open sometime this fall after a practice run through Seattle August 14 to September 21 and preview performances in early November. The musical is new material based on the DreamWorks and William Steig creature and will feature a live cast (which has not been announced yet).

The musical will be directed by Jason Moore, who staged the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Avenue Q. Music will handled by Jeanine Tesori (Olivier Award- winner for Caroline, or Change and three-time Tony Award nominee). Sounds like this one will rake in lots of cash - just watch for giant flying green goo coming from the stage if Shrek sneezes.
