American Idol Final - David Vs. David
May 14th, 2008

David Cook and David Archuleta go head to head in American Idol FinalI know our American Idol coverage has been lacking a little as of late, but in all fairness once Kristy Lee Cook was voted off my interest was cut to a fraction. Fortunately Syesha Mercado made the ranks into the final three and on looks alone she should be the winner, but there is some singing involved and Syesha was the one voted off of American Idol tonight.

Who does that leave? Well, if you’ve been watching the show it’s obvious, but for the rest of you, we can look forward to the two David’s going head to head next week on to decide who becomes the winner and American Idol of Fox’s season 7 competition. (more…)

Ramiele Malubay gets the boot from American Idol
April 3rd, 2008

Ramiele Malubay voted off of American Idol Season 7, top 9Ramiele Malubay was the one that came up short with votes last night out of the nine remaining American Idol contestants for Season 7. She was joined in the bottom three by two other female performers - Kristy Lee Cook and Brooke White.

We had said early in the season when the guys and girls were split that once they get put together the female side of this competition would suffer the most blows early on and it looks like it’s happening. It was nice to see Jason Castro pulled things together and kept himself out of the bottom three. We really enjoy his carefree, stoner attitude and he brings the show back down to earth a little. I’m also glad to see that although Kristy was again in the bottom three, she didn’t get let go this time and I still have a good reason to watch and not just listen to the show. (more…)

March 24th, 2008

“A few weeks from now on a network buried in basic cable…”

Star Wars fans too cheap to rent the entire saga on DVD get ready: Spike TV is bringing all six movies to the small screen in a Vader loving, lightsaber swinging event stemming many hours of your short life in April.

Spike TV said it will air the complete Star Wars Saga starting Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6, and Friday, April 11 through Sunday, April 13. It will include the broadcast premiere of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and the basic cable premieres of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.

This will apparently mark the first time all six movies are being presented together on basic cable on the same network. All six are “digitally re-mastered versions of the films, shown uncut and presented in HD where available.” Lots of extra Star Wars material will be thrown in, giving all of you Princess Leia fanatics something to once again dream of.

NBC Snuffs Quarterlife in Quarter of a Second
February 28th, 2008

quarterlife-bombs.jpg

Fan of the new NBC series Quarterlife? Too bad - the network has already canned it after its Tuesday night debut. Word today is it may get moved to the cable network Bravo. No new date for this possible move has been confirmed though.

Why, do you ask, did it get yanked after only one episode? Well, according to Reuters, it drew “the network’s lowest ratings and smallest audience for that time slot in at least 20 years.” OUCH!! It ranked pathetically low in its target demographic viewership also. Oh well.

Quarterlife, which is popular on MySpace, didn’t quite make the translation to the slightly larger screen.

Denise Richards Turns Her Life into a Reality Show
February 12th, 2008

denise-richards.jpgHottie actress and ex-wife of Charlie Sheen Denise Richards is getting ready to turn her life as a single parent into a reality show, according to E! Online. The series, which as yet has no name, will debut on E! this summer.

Richards, who turns 37 this week, is trying to use the reality show about her life so she can let people “see what I’m really like.” The series had to get court approval since Sheen had objected to the two children the couple birthed appearing in the show.

Ryan Seacrest is the executive producer of this pending train wreck. We suppose though it will probably be more realistic then Richards as a nuclear physicist named Christmas Jones.

Chuck Norris Wants You to Endorse WCL
February 5th, 2008

chuck-wcl.jpgWhen Chuck Norris isn’t busy endorsing right leaning Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, he is busy with his other interest: World Combat League baby! Word has come from the heart of the Lone Star state - Dallas - that the WCL is coming back to Versus this Sunday for another season of butt-kicking fun!

Think WWE meets martial arts extreme without the funny looking costumes, weird names and grannies throwing chairs at athletes. WCL, which kicks off at 7pm EST on Sunday, runs for 20 weeks and pits teams of martial artists from different cities against one another. There’s no Royal Rumble here apparently - each individual on a team fights in two three minute rounds. At least they throw in some women fighters to keep things interesting.

Norris is proud of his WCL, saying “the WCL had a 34-percent knockout rate last season, which is tops anywhere.” That’s right Chuckster, secure the borders with karate!
