American Idol: Top 10 Females
February 27th, 2008

It’s another American Idol airing tonight, this time with the top 10 female singers giving it a go. Last night was the top 10 guys with everyone’s favorite little kid David Archuleta stealing the show at the end. I haven’t been as impressed with the girls so far this season and I’m willing to bet that people will still be talking about David tomorrow more than any of the girls.

Syesha Mercado - American Idol Earlier in the season I really liked Syesha until I saw her in this picture. Then when she did that baby cry in the pre-performance interview I was totally and completely freaked out. She should never do that again. No votes for you.
Ramiele Malubay - American Idol Little Ramiele Malubay sounds like she can really sing. It’s definitely weird to hear her talk with such a small voice and then sing with such a big voice. It almost seems like it’s not real, but good either way. The hula dancing wasn’t bad, either. We’re betting Ramiele will do well.
Kristy Lee Cook Kristy Lee Cook will get votes from us just on her looks alone. I’m not sure about her song choice but her bra choice was a good move for this week. I think she sang a song, too. Simon and I both couldn’t remember her singing before but we hope to see her again, and again.
Kady Malloy - American Idol Kady Malloy is another competitor that will win votes just for her looks, and we have no problems with that. In fact many of those votes will be coming from us. I just love her Brittany impression too, even better than when Brittany does it. I think we’ll be seeing more of Kady.
Carly Smithson - American Idol Carly Smithson started out the show tonight with her Cher-like voice which really didn’t sound all that bad, but unfortunately Carly is lacking a little in the looks department. That along with Simon describing her as panting like a dog will likely keep her from making it a whole lot further.
Brooke White Brook White did a Carly Simon song which was actually pretty fitting for her and she did a nice job. Heck, she even looks a little like Carly Simon (without the huge teeth of course). It’s not enough that Brooke is a little old by American Idol standards but she looks like she’s right out of a class of ‘74 yearbook picture. Maybe that was for the ’70’s night?
Asia’h Epperson - American Idol This Asia’h Epperson is high energy and a lot of fun to watch, and not a half bad singer. This week she could have picked a better outfit and a better song but we think she’ll go on at least another round.
Amanda Overmyer - Americal Idol Holy crap. I don’t know if Harley-riding nurse’s hair or her singing scares me more. Amanda Overmyer did OK earlier on in the season but tonight was just horrible. The judges chalked up to “not the right song” but we’re to place this one in our “lack of talent” file.
Alexandra Lushington - Americal Idol Umm, what’s with the pants? The shorts Alexandra Lushington was wearing this week looked like she was going fishing right after the show. She’s likable but was towards the bottom of the list for us this week.
Alaina Whitaker - American Idol Meh… I’m not sure what to say about Alaina Whitaker. She did a Grease song and I like Grease, but she’s just awfully middle of the road. She needs to spice up the singing a little or get a little hotter or something if she wants to win this thing.

POPTHERAPY PREDICTS: Tomorrow night two girls and two guys get voted off and we’re going to make our predictions. If we could we’d predict that four girls are going home but Ryan Seacrest tells us that two guys have to go, too. With that said we’re going with Carly Smithson and Alexandra Lushington to get the boot on Thursday for the girls, and we’re going with Jason Yeager and Michael Johns to leave for the guys.

On another note, what’s up with Paula these last couple of episodes? It’s almost as if she’s found some glimmer of confidence after putting out new song on Randy Jackson’s album and grew her own opinion on performances seemingly over night. At least it’s less painful to hear her critiques now. I wish I could say the same about her song.
